Tenas Chakchak Chapter

of the T'kope Kwiskwis Lodge #502

Aquila District, Chief Seattle Council

Welcome

Thanks for visiting the Tenas Chakchak Chapter website.

First Ordeal of 2008

OA ArrowheadThe first ordeal for 2008 will be held March 14th-16th, at Camp Brinkley. All current Ordeal, Brotherhood, & Vigil members are encouraged to attend. If you haven't had an opportunity to participate as an Elangomat, or "friend" to the Ordeal candidates as they go through their initiation into the OA, I strongly encourage you to volunteer. It is a great way to better understand and appreciate the ceremonies.

Also, Ordeals are used as service weekends to help prepare our council camps for summer camp. Since we all believe in both service and the scouting program, this is a great way to pitch in and help relieve some of the burdens borne by our brother arrowmen.  Many hands make light work.

I hope to see you all there.

Lodge Spring Fellowship

Timeless Values BSA LogoSpring Fellowship is an opportunity for all arrowmen throughout the lodge to gather and visit outside of the normal Lodge events and to be part of the most important meeting of the year - the annual Lodge Officer elections. The cost of the event is $5.00 and will be held at a location, yet to be determined.

Spring Fellowship is the last opportunity for ordeal members to attain Brotherhood before the Quality Lodge year is over. Please remember that there is no longer a fee to become a Brotherhood member.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Summer Camp with Scoutreach Youth

OA ArrowheadWe are looking for individuals to help promote camping in our council by attending summer camp with our Soccer and Scouting, Scoutreach groups. Scoutreach gives special leadership and emphasis to urban and rural Scouting programs to ensure that culturally diverse youth have the opportunity to join the Scouting program.

This will likely be one of the first outdoor camping experiences for many of these youth and they can benefit from our experiences as a society of honored campers. We, in turn, can benefit through cultural diversification, the opportunity to give back to our communities and live up to the ideals for which we stand, and of course, another few days at camp .

We are looking for both youth and adult OA members to help. If you are interested, please email the Aquila District Director, Ryan Larson at: rlarson@seattlebsa.org

Other Service Opportunities

The Order of the Arrow is a society of honored campers who provide service to the scouting program in an effort to promote camping and scouting values. The Aquila district has many opportunities for us to serve. Please seriously consider getting involved with the camporee or Scoutreach opportunities listed above. If you are unable, due to schedule conflicts or some other reason, but still want to provide service, please contact the chapter at: Aquila.OA@gmail.com .

"Tenas Chakchak" by R. L. Sleight (1984)

The purpose of the Order of the Arrow is:

  • To recognize those campers — Scouts and Scouters — who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives and by such recognition cause other campers to conduct themselves in such manner as to warrant recognition.
  • To develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit.
  • To promote Scout camping, which reaches its greatest effectiveness as a part of the unit's camping program, both year-round and in the summer camp, as directed by the camping committee of the council.
  • To crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others.
