As you probably know, this year is the centennial year of a tragic event-out of which heroism was produced. This event was the sinking of the Royal Mail Steamer Titanic. But, you might ask yourself, is there anything that will teach me more about and make me remember for years to come this tragic yet inspiring event? Well, look no further. Titanic Heroes, an organization dedicated to teaching the true legacy of the Titanic, has created two beautiful commemorative patches for this very purpose.

These beautiful patches commemorate the 100^th anniversary of two great events: The sinking of the RMS Titanic, and the founding of Sea Scouts in America. Those who purchase the patches can either go through a set of requirements to earn the patches, or just buy them and wear them. Both patches can be earned by the same set or requirements.

Both of these patches encourage us to learn more about the true legacy of the RMS Titanic- a legacy of heroism and a legacy of women and children first. After going through the requirements, Scouts, Scouters, and everyone else will know about the 3G’s- ways of giving in our own lives in both simple and heroic ways. These patches make a lovely memento of April 14 and 15, 1912, and inspire the hero in all of us.
