What is it: An event to challenge Scouts, Venturers, and Webelos in teamwork and Scout skills.
“Paul Bunyan in the 21st Century” will be the theme for the 2012 Camporee/Nitehike
When is it? Friday, Sept 7th through Sunday, Sept 9th, 2012
Where will it be held? Tolt-MacDonald King County Park, Carnation, WA (approx 20 miles east of Seattle)
What does it cost? $15 per Scout/Webelos/ Venturer (adults are free) camping both nights; $13 per Scout/Webelos/Venturer camping for just one night.
Who may participate? Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturers, and 2nd Year Webelos (as well as Cadette and above Girl Scouts and Guides)—sign up is “first come, first served”
Camping Hike-in tent camping is available for Troops on Friday and Saturday nights (Webelos may camp, but only if sponsored by a Troop) — units will need to carry or use carts to move gear to the campsites.
How will it work?
Friday Night: Troops and crews will check in and set up their campsites before checking out as patrols and tackling our annual NiteHike event. Patrols be given maps and score sheets, then navigate to stations spread across the park. Station will be sponsored by troops or crews manned by groups of older Scouts or Venturers. At each station the patrols will be challenged by a variety of activities to test their scouting skills and teamwork. Once activities at a station are completed, the patrol then navigates its way to the next station. Patrols are not required to complete every station and may “check out” at any point in the night. NiteHike stations will shut down at approx 3 am.
Saturday: After a late reveille, Patrols/Crews will confront a number of patrol challenges throughout the day, including patrol cooking, logging and conservation events, and team challenges.
Saturday Night we’ll hold a special Scouting campfire and units may check out or camp through Sunday.
