Sammamish Trails Awards
As a volunteer driven organization, Boy Scouts of America strives to recognize its outstanding volunteers. Anyone may submit a nomination. If you know of a Scouter who deserves to be recognized, please take the time to complete one of these forms. Nominations are due by the end of February, but please feel free to send them in at any time during the year. Award recipients will be recognized at the District Volunteer Recognition Dinner. If you have any questions, please contact Awards@SammamishTrails.org or call 425-881-8604. (Deadline exceptions: Silver Beaver nominations are due by the October Roundtable. Unit Leader Awards of Merit and Leader Knots should be submitted at the time the leader qualifies.)
List of Past Recipients – Who from our District has been honored over the years? This list chronicles that history.
Forms: These forms can be saved and edited, then emailed as attachments to Awards@SammamishTrails.org. If you prefer, you may print them to fill in by hand, then mail them to Kris Taylor, 6512 149th Ave. NE, Redmond, WA 98052. The name of each award links to the form for that award.
Strictly for Units:
Spark Plug – Each unit is encouraged to recognize one adult volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the success of the unit over the last year. This volunteer does not have to be a registered leader to receive a Spark Plug. ONE award PER UNIT may be given out -- every unit has a Spark Plug!
Unit Leader Award of Merit – The former individual leader awards of merit have been combined to include all programs. This award may be earned and presented at any time during the year to any deserving Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Varsity Coach, or Venturing Advisor.
Leader Knots are actually training awards. The requirements can be found at roundtable or email Training@KGTaylor.com for the latest forms.
For Unit level contributions to Scouting (these individuals may also be active in the district):

This award may be earned more than once.
District Award of Merit – This is a council award presented by the district to a limited number of registered Scouters who have given noteworthy service to youth at the District level. It is the highest recognition that a District can give and may only be awarded once to any individual.
Silver Beaver – This is a national award presented by the council. Nominations are made through the District Silver Beaver Committee. A nominee’s Scouting service may be at the district, council, or unit level, but it must be significant.
