Scout Camping!

Organized camping is a creative, educational experience in cooperative group living in the outdoors. It uses the natural surroundings to contribute significantly to physical, mental, spiritual, and social growth.

Camping contributes to good health.
Camping helps campers develop self-reliance and resourcefulness.
Camping enhances spiritual growth.
Camping contributes to social development.
Camping is an experience in citizenship training.
Camping at the Cub Scout level introduces boys to the knowledge and skills that they will learn and apply more thoroughly as a Boy Scout.
Camping at the Boy Scout level, is an outdoor adventure promise made to boys when they join Scouting. Boys yearn for outdoor programs that stir their imagination and interest.

Cub Scout camping has day camps, resident camps, Webelos den overnight campouts, family camps, and pack overnighters.

Boy Scout camping opportunities, subject to the Guide to Safe Scouting, are only limited by your unit's imagination.  Day hikes, service projects, patrol activities, weekend overnights, camporees, summer camp, jamborees, council high adventure, national high adventure, unit high adventure -- whatever your unit wants to take on!

Sammamish Trails District Events

Cub Scout Day Camp (July)

Cub Scout Day Camp is for Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and 1st and 2nd year Webelos along with their leaders and/or parents to enjoy exciting days at a local park. Activities may include Living History, Nature Hikes, Arts and Crafts, BB Gun Rifle Safety, Wood Working, Music, Archery and Citizenship.

Klondike Challenge (January)

When the first Alaska Gold miners hit the pass at Chilkoot, the Mounties stopped them, and would not let them enter the Klondike area until they passed certain conditions. This included proper equipment, sufficient supplies and proper attitude. The Klondike Challenge attempts to re-create those conditions for those Boy Scout troops willing to test their mettle and take the Klondike Challenge!  Webelos are also encouraged to join us for the day as well!

Merit Badge Weekend (March)

Merit Badge Weekend is an outing where Boy Scouts have the opportunity to earn a merit badge and newer Scouts can work toward First Class Rank at the scout skills station.

Camporee (May)

Camporee is Boy Scouts annual fun camping competition where all the troops from our district get together to test their scouting skills. Typically, patrols will compete in several areas of scouting skills.  Skills like First Aid, Cooking (cooking & fire building), Nature (plant and animal identification and knowledge), Orienteering (Map and Compass), Pioneering (ropes, knots, lashings), Scout Skills (knives, axes, fires), and  Tomahawk Throwing.  Webelos are also encouraged to join us for the day as well!
