Venturing Leader Training

Click the course header below for the most recent flyer, if it is available.

(To contact the Training Chair, or one of the Chairs related to the training you need, go to the "Training" section of the District Org Chart here.)

New Leader Essentials

This is a great 90-minute fundamental-level training course for all new and untrained Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Venturing Leaders, where you can learn what Scouting's all about, your role in it and where you can get help.  See the main training page for more information on this cross-program introductory course.

Training for Venturing Advisers and Committee

Crews will be more successful when the leaders understand how BSA thinks the crews operate. There are only two trainings aimed specifically at adults working with Venturers.

Venturing Adviser training is for all "advisers," and valuable for crew committee members and for parents who want to understand the program. The program is very flexible, and one thing the training does is help you understand some of the options. Crew officers and other Venturers are welcome to participate.

Venturing Adviser training is offered once or twice a year. Courses are shown with the Boy Scout training calendar. For more info and to check for courses that aren't on the calendar, check with our district coordinator for Venturing leader training in the District Organization Chart

The other training is the Power Horn course. This is a high adventure resource course. There are many things Venturers can do toward earning the Ranger award. This course gives you some idea how to help the Venturers get there -- and a taste of why they would want to. People call Powder Horn "summer camp for adults," and it really is fun, but it will also help you help your Venturers with high adventure, Ranger type programs. There will be a course in May & June of 2008 in Mt. Baker Council, just north of us, at Camp Black Mountain. (The cost is lower if you register by January 31, 2008.)
