The Chief Seattle Council, BSA is divided into twelve geographic districts with leadership provided by the District Executive, the District Committee Chairman, and the District Commissioner. Except for the professional position of District Executive, the district committee is staffed by volunteers.
Thunderbird District serves the central and south Seattle areas of Beacon Hill, Brighton, Broadmoor, Capitol Hill, Central District, Columbia City, Genesee, Hillman City, International District, Judkins Park, Leschi, Madison Park, Madison Valley, Madrona, Montlake, Mount Baker, Rainier Valley, and Seward Park with Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, Venturing crews, and Sea Scout ships. The district celebrates its diversity with more than a dozen participating ethnic and religious cultures.
The voting members of the Thunderbird District consist of volunteer representatives from each of its chartered organizations having at least one BSA unit, as well as a slate of annually elected volunteer members-at-large. This group annually elects the District Committee Chairman.
