Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I don't really golf, so why would I want to go? (click to reveal)

A: It's not about the golf! You'll have a great time, in good company. Truth is, many of the folks at this tournament come for the experience of spending time with friends who share a common interest of supporting the betterment of Scouting. For some, it may even be their first full game of golf. It's a very low pressure game, and we have lots of ways to help make sure everyone will have a fun time, regardless of experience. If you don't call yourself a golfer currently, you might decide you like it by the end of the Scoutreach Golf Tournament!

Q: It's a lot of money just to play a round of golf, isn't it? (click to reveal)

A: Yes and no. We figure it is a worthy investment with a guaranteed return. Here are a couple of statistics to substantiate our claim:

• 35% of men who were Scouts graduate from college, in contrast to 19% of men who were never Scouts.
• The percentage of boys 6 to 11 years old who are overweight has more than doubled since 1980. 73% of Scouts agree that Scouting has increased their interest in physical fitness
• 89% of parents say that Scouting communicates staying away from drugs. 74% of Scouts agree that Scouting helps them tell the difference between right and wrong.
• 94% of Scouting parents indicate that a key reason they support their son’s involvement in Scouting is the safe friendly environment.
• 88% of parents indicate that a key reason they support their son's involvement in Scouting is the interaction with positive role models.
• 78% of Scouts agree with the statement "being a Boy Scout makes me feel more confident in myself."
• 56% of Scouts agree that Scouting has helped their performance in science, 52% in reading and 50% in math.
