The safety of youth is central to the goals of Scouting, therefore Chief Seattle requires all leaders to take Youth Protection Training annually..
The purpose of Wood Badge is to build stronger units. It does this by immersing leaders in a six-day experience of team building and small-group leadership skills. It is an advanced, intense, and, yes, fun training for adults 18 and older.
The purpose of NYLT - National Youth Leadership Training is the same, but geared toward 13 to 21 year olds, and it too is advanced, intense, and very fun training.
So, what is the secret? Send at least one of your adult leaders and two of your youth leaders every year. The knowledge each individual brings back to the unit is invaluable, but the combined knowledge is worth even more.
Before you send in missing training, please check your official training record in my.Scouting.org. Please try to do all of your updates at once, and only send missing training.
Once you have checked your records, please complete the Training Record Updates form, save it, and email it as an attachment to council@seattlebsa.org. Some non-BSA training simply cannot be entered into your record, but we will do our best.
If you have trouble with the Adobe form, email council@seattlebsa.org, and we will figure something out.
