This generic Troop Handbook is intended to be used as a starter and modified by the Troop. This handbook was a Doctor of Commissioner Science thesis for Commissioner Walter Beauchamp (former Scoutmaster), and was reviewed and approved by Bruce Anderson, Council Commissioner.

Merit Badge Counselor Application Process

Please have all new Merit Badge Counselors complete a BSA Adult Application if they’re not currently registered with a unit (Pack, Troop, Team, Crew), Youth Protection Training (within one year), and a Merit Badge Counselor Information form. Linked here is a fillable adult application and Merit Badge Counselor Application.

Then please email their Merit Badge Counselor application, Youth Protection Training certificate, and Adult Application (if needed) to membership@seattlebsa.org and CC both the Alpine District Executive (CMcNeal@seattlebsa.org) and the Alpine District Merit Badge Counselor (alpinembcc@gmail.com).

Merit Badge Counselors are highly encouraged to complete Merit Badge Counselor Training which is offered at the Program Training Conference, by your District Merit Badge Counselor Coordinator at a District training event or by completing this self study

The Council Registrar team will let the Troop, District, and Merit Badge Counselor know if there are any issues processing the Merit Badge Counselor application(s).

Requesting a Current Merit Badge Counselor (MBC) Roster

Please email the Alpine District Merit Badge Counselor Coordinator (alpinembcc@gmail.com) for an updated Merit Badge Counselor roster. Anyone not listed on this roster isn’t currently registered as Merit Badge Counselor.

Making Changes to your Merit Badge Counselor Application

If a current counselor would like to add or delete merit badges, please email a completed Merit Badge Counselor Information form and email the completed form to the Alpine District Merit Badge Counselor Coordinator at alpinembcc@gmail.com.  

If a current counselor would no longer like to serve, please email your request to be dropped to he Alpine District Merit Badge Counselor Coordinator at alpinembcc@gmail.com and the Alpine District Executive at cmcneal@seattlebsa.org
