Which schools are you targeting?
Though we'll be able to give information about Cub Scouting at any school in the North Shore School District, we're focusing on the following schools: Arrowhead, Kenmore, Lockwood, Maywood Hills, Moorlands, Westhill, Woodin, and Woodmoor
How many groups are there?
There are four Cub Scout groups already established which cover the schools listed above.
Special note about kindergarteners and first graders
As our entry-level grades, these groups are formed new each fall. There may already be a group established at your school, or we may be gauging interest at this meeting to form a new group. 100% of our leaders are parents and volunteers. Were you a Scout growing up? Would you like to step forward to lead one of these groups? Contact Patrick Nance ahead of time to learn about this exciting opportunity.
Special note about girls
Fall 2018 is the first time in our history that girls will be able to join Cub Scouts! This means that at all grade levels, K-5, we'll be looking for energetic parents who would like to help us form and lead these new groups.
What else do we need to know?
When your son or daughter joins Cub Scouts, we'll place them with other Cub Scouts in the same school grade. This group of 4-8 youth will meet together in what we call a 'den.' These age-specific groups are lead by a parent volunteer, but we recommend that a parent attends each meeting to help out. About once a month, all of the age groups will come together for award ceremonies, or special events.
How much does it cost to join?
The average joining cost for a year in Cub Scouting is $90-$140. Special events such as summer camp may require additional fees if your family attends, but all groups offer fundraising options.
When are the meetings?
Age-specific meetings usually happen once-per-week, and vary with each group. There will be 3-5 meetings per month, including one activity. Attendance at all meetings is not required.
